McKean provides program and project management, planning, and training support services to customers for the insertion of new technology associated with the Distance Support (DS) Program. This support includes providing technology insertion evaluations, shipboard and shore-based training support, and on-site support for the Navy's Anchor Desk and DS 2.0 upgrade installation. For training material development we provide surface and submarine ship training materials for NIAPS applications. McKean also provides technical assistance in the development of design and implementation documentation for new equipment installations related to the DS Program. We develop surface and submarine NIAPS System Administration (SA) training modules including job sheets and we validate jobs sheets at test labs and onboard to ensure accuracy and completeness.
We travel to US Navy ports and shipyards to conduct training on in-port and underway ships and submarines and provide training on DS/NIAPS Ashore module at Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs). McKean conducts onboard assessments of ship's NIAPS Server to verify performance of the system and proper operation by the System Administrators; provide technical assistance to identify and troubleshoot problems; and assist ships in submitting trouble tickets to the Global Distance Support Center (GDSC). McKean provides Navy software engineers with technical and administrative feedback on the training modules and shipboard NIAPS Server operation and we coordinate actions with installation teams to schedule NIAPS training and provide technical feedback of NIAPS Server installation operational problems. McKean coordinates with commands scheduled for training to establish a tailored training plan for each command and we coordinate actions with FIT to incorporate the Navy Career Tools (NCT) training into the ship's training schedules.
McKean developed a Distance Support Training Application (DSTA) database to track the shipboard and shore-based Distance Support / NIAPS Program training. We also converted a DSTA database to a web-based application and we submit tailored reports of ship training data upon request.
We provide engineering and technical support to the DS support office in Philadelphia by maintaining and updating the Remedy database for Distance Support. We develop and monitor metrics for Distance Support issues assigned to NAVSEA Warfare Center Philadelphia and distribute DS Program "Coffee Table Notes" to recipients of DS/NIAPS training. McKean coordinates actions with ships and support activities to schedule and indoctrinate personnel with planned training implementation.
